Microsoft announced Kinect for Windows will be available in February 1, 2012
Microsoft launched Kinect for Xbox360 on Novermber 4th, 2010 and it is the fastest selling consumer electronics device that sold 18 million units. Kinect has changed the world of gaming and the way people interact with Xbox360 through body movement and voice. The sensor has advanced human tracking, gesture recognition and voice control which make “YOU” as the controller.
Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer announced that Kinect for Windows will be launch in early 2012 during Microsoft CES 2012. This is not the same Kinect for Xbox360 console that have been forced to work with PC, these are two separate device. The idea of developing the Kinect for Windows is to transform how people interact with their computers in education, healthcare, automotive and many more.
The company confirmed during the CES 2012 that Kinect for Windows sensor and software development kit will be available on February 1, 2012 in twelve countries (United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom).
The hardware looks almost the same to the Kinect for Xbox360 but it is designed to work at closer range and work with Windows 7 and 8.
